About Me

Stuff about Dave - pithy biog, and a link to teaching page to know more about general teaching approach.

  • Working with David is a breath of fresh air. He is a passionate educator, loves singing/singers/voices, is super personable, and has an incredible ear. His method is flexible, he can parry pedagogically when needed but is also able to meet you in a more tactile way as singing is so physical and viscerally personal. As someone who is in the throes of a singing career, I appreciate these rare but incredibly valuable qualities.

    — Franny, Soprano

  • "I would recommend Dave to anyone seeking to gain an increased insight into their voice and how to utilise their instrument with a healthy technique both physiologically and mentally. I went to him for a vocal “tune up” and thanks to his incredible depth of knowledge and understanding of both vocal anatomy and the idiosyncrasies of singers methodologies he was able to help me see my instrument from new, and constructive, perspectives. He really did teach an old dog new tricks! "

    — Charlie, Soprano

  • "Every detail was thoughtfully executed. We're thrilled with the outcome."

  • "Useful pointers that made a noticeable difference straight away"

Had a fantastic singing lesson with David — the environment was friendly, fun, and totally put me at ease. He gave me some really useful pointers that made a noticeable difference straight away, which was brilliant. What I loved most was how he explained everything in terms of the anatomy behind it, so it all actually made sense rather than just being abstract advice. Great lesson all round — I'll definitely be back!

  • "I would highly recommend him"

I was hugely impressed by Dave's ability to accurately describe the sensations I was experiencing after only a few scales. He was able to change the terminology and approach he was using with ease to find the image or action which worked best for me, without making me feel like I wasn't understanding. I would highly recommend him to voice users at both professional and amateur level.

    - Andrew, Tenor

  • "A truly wonderful teacher"

David's wealth of current experience as a working professional singer, his depth of technical and physiological knowledge, and his honest, intuitive and efficient nature immediately set my first session with him apart from others. He met me exactly where I was, and was able to quickly identify the most useful way for us to spend our session, without any pressure to immediately book in for the next one (although I most certainly will).

After just one session, I had the feeling that my vocal toolbox had been sharpened and polished, and was primed for use going forward into a busy and demanding season. His enthusiasm for listening and learning, his understanding of the demands of the industry, as well as his efficient use of time and downright joyful energy are what make David a truly wonderful teacher, and why I would highly recommend him.

    - Rachel, Soprano

  • "Exactly what I needed"

David’s exceptional knowledge of the anatomy of the voice, and his enthusiastic passion in wanting for us to discover new things was a true joy and pleasure. As an experienced singer and performer himself who understands the demands of the industry, it was truly wonderful for us to connect on a personal level, and also professionally, and his delivery of technical advice, guidance and exercises was a complete breath of fresh air and exactly what I needed.

His eagerness and attention to detail and wanting me to discover new elements of my singing was exceptional - inspirational in fact. The confidence he gave me as well as the pure joy and fun in one session alone, is a testament to the effort and commitment David brings to sessions. His simplified methods alongside his listening and want to learn, is certainly a reason why I personally will definitely have book another session, and I highly recommend fellow artists to do the same.

    - Rhydian, Tenor

  • "The kindest and most positive person"

Dave is not only super knowledgeable and extremely helpful when it comes to making a singer think about their singing in a whole new way, but he also manages to be the kindest and most positive person to give feedback!

I would encourage anyone to go and see him as often as they can.

    - Anna, Soprano
